Color Spotlight: Powder Rose

Since I've chosen Powder Rose to represent October's birthstone, it seemed right to feature this beautiful pearl this month! It's is one of the most popular or our pearl selections. It is a great color- yes, I do say this about every color- but seriously, if I didn't like the colors that I offer for your designs, I wouldn't be excited about making them!

What I like about the Powder Rose pearl color is that it offers a little bit deeper of a pink than the Rosaline. Where Rosaline offers a soft, subtle tone, Powder Rose will offer more pop without getting too bright. It's a deeper tone, more akin to a raspberry. What's great about it is that it can be paired really well with all of the colors. You really can't mess up Powder Rose.

I really can't think of any of the pearls that I wouldn't pair Powder Rose with! There's a reason that I included it in my original line from Swarovski!

LOVE it!

Meet October's Featured Family!

Aaron and Gaby are a loving couple that are adopting domestically, and they are our first Featured Family to be doing so! Personally, that makes me kind of excited, as we're travelling the same road.

They have been married for 6 years and have two darling boys ages 2 and 4, Both were born under high risk circumstances. Aaron and Gaby started thinking about adoption after their first son was born and eventually felt the call to embark on the adoption journey in 2012! They are adopting through a domestic infant program here in the U.S. and are now waiting to be matched.

For those of you who aren't as familiar with domestic adoption, what that means is that they have done all the home study paper work and have made family profiles that can be shown to birth families. These profiles can be reviewed by birth mothers and fathers as they seek to find forever families for their unborn babies. This can be quite an emotional roller coaster as a family waits to hear if a birth mother wants to meet them or consider them. As we have experienced in our own journey, sometimes you are matched and at the last minute the birth mother can change her mind. And it's a devastating thing to endure.

But it's worth it!

Please pray for Aaron and Gaby as they wait, as they travel this road of twists and turns.

"The adoption process if full of ups and downs with many unknowns but it's been an exciting journey filled with fundraising, growing our faith, and relying on God!"

Every purchase made through our website, as well as those made at Felicity Boutique, will help this sweet family on their adoption journey! Isn't it a blessing to see the many ways that families can be built through adoption?!

Color Spotlight: Rosaline

Rosaline is such a lovely color. If you could color meekness, gentleness, femininity, it would be Swarovski's Rosaline Pearls. So soft and able to compliment so many of the shades that we offer!

On the right, is pictured a single Rosaline pearl for a momma's first baby girl. Absolutely perfect! What could be better than baby pink?!

It's also a color that mirrors a natural color that occurs. Remember Lyndsey? Her sister-in-law found a pearl from Hawaii that is the same color as Rosaline and had it made into a nest to announce Lyndsey's first baby!

This soft pink color has always been absolutely necessary to have. It's just a perfect, beautiful color to have to represent those sweet daughters and granddaughters! No matter what changes there have been, this light shade of pink has always stayed, and it always will.

Upgrading to Brilliant Silver

I'm so absolutely amazed at God's faithfulness as he has provided for our family's adoption through A Nest by Design. It was a year ago this month that I wanted to make a birthday present for my sister to include her two children that just came home from Ethiopia. I had the idea to make a nest pendant that could hold eight "eggs" to represent all her children in a way that was simple and unique.

We were just about to finish up our home study, and I knew that I could help our family by blessing other moms with special jewelry.

It grew from there.

I have always been looking for ways to make this jewelry better, prettier, more customizable, and this is the final piece of the puzzle. Starting September 1st, all of the jewelry made will be out of sterling silver wire. Because of the increase in quality and cost (and after much debate and advice-seeking), chains will be sold separately so that I can keep the same price point for those who would rather use their own chain.

What I love about this upgrade is how bright and brilliant the sterling wire is! As I've experimented with it, I'm super excited to make orders that will come in because the wire makes dazzling jewelry. The chains are a great find too. As much as I loved the look of the snake chains, I'm really excited to share the rope chains with you all. The different facets of the chain catch the light, and add a bit of sparkle- without looking too sparkly.

I don't have the photography skills to really show how bright and shiny with contrast is between the old materials and the new sterling materials. I'm very, very pleased with this switch!

I'm also glad that now everything is more hypoallergenic for those who have metal allergy issues. Although there's always going to be someone who has severe allergies with metals, most people can wear sterling silver, and now there's no need to worry about any nickel content. If you have a naturally more acidic ph balance to your skin, you'll be much happier with this switch as well!

There you have it! I have needed to post this for a long time, but the beginning of September, with school starting and all, has been quite full. Believe me. It's not for lack of enthusiasm that I haven't posted about this upgrade!

Featured Family Update: Nate and Carrie

This is one of the most fun parts of having Featured Families! We get to celebrate when we hear of an update, and I am so excited that Nathan and Carrie, our first Featured Family from June, have accepted a referral for a 20 month old little girl!

You can read about their experience from Carrie's perspective on their blog. I don't know about you, but when I read it, I think the room got a little dusty. But maybe that's just my bad housekeeping. Either way, get ready to be blessed and celebrate with this precious family that will hopefully bring her home from China in about 6 months.

I love what Carrie writes:

We read through the information first
and then looked at the pictures.
When we opened her picture I literally gasped- it took my breath away-there she is the one that is missing from our family!
I have read and heard that before about people who find their own children that they just seen them and in their heart they knew…
I never understood that until now.

Thank you so much for supporting A Nest by Design. Every purchase helps families get one baby step closer to building their family through adoption. It's never an easy road, but it's always worth it. I'm super excited to see how Carrie will want to design her nest! Don't worry, I'll share that too!

September's Featured Families

Fate. Chance. Serendipity. Coincidence.

Some may call it this, to have two families with stories like this month's Featured Families, to be paired with one another this month.

I don't.

I call it Providence. I didn't even know that these families would be paired. I had no idea that their stories would be side-by-side. I didn't plan it. It just happened.

I kind of think it happened this way for a reason.

A Nest by Design was started because I wanted to earn money for our adoption. After a few months, I just didn't want to keep the blessing to myself, so that's when I got the idea for sponsoring different adopting families. I wanted to get adoption stories out there. I wanted people to see others that are following a path that is not for the faint of faith. My hope is that reading about these families, and knowing our story will inspire someone to take that leap into expending their heart and family through adoption.

It's an honor to share these stories with you, and it is a joy to share with you Brandon & Emily and Bryan & Lauren.

Brandon and Emily have walked an unexpected road. They always thought that they would have 3 children. After a very difficult, and dangerous pregnancy with their sweet Lily, Emily was told that it would be unwise to have any more children biologically.

That was it
For a long time they mourned the loss of having any more children. Emily couldn't hold babies without crying, so she quit holding babies, even her own nieces and nephews.

Brandon gave up his desire to have a son of his own, along with teaching him how to hunt, play sports or any other thing that fathers and sons may do.

In 2011 their pastor and his wife shared with them that they were beginning the process of adopting from Ethiopia. Brandon especially wanted to travel with them and photograph their experience, and he wanted Emily to join him. After much hesitancy, and even fear, she agreed to go.

Theirs was a trip that would change their world forever. There was one special little boy at the orphanage that completely stole their hearts. After leaving him behind on the third day, they were having dinner with their pastor, his wife, and the man in charge of Ethiopian adoptions through Adoption Associates. Brandon and Emily mentioned how much they were taken with this particular boy, that if they could, they would bring him home with them the next day.

He asked if they were serious because, "I can make it happen."

They realized that they were serious. It was time for them to step out in faith!

As it turned out, this little boy was already referred to another family, but to Brandon and Emily's amazement, the family declined him!

They forged ahead, doing everything required to complete their home study, and dossier, and have *just* brought Silas home! Being a Featured Family will help pay for those final travel expenses as well as other legalities making Silas's adoption final.

God has called us to adoption. That is very clear. We are excited to be following his lead in our lives.
We feel the most important thing one can impart on our children is God’s love & living it out daily in front of them.

I don't think I can share about Bryan and Lauren without first prefacing it with how encouraging their story has been to myself as we are on our own adoption journey. We've shared how we had a failed placement back in May, and I personally have struggled to get my feet back under me and ready to move ahead in our journey.

But after reading Bryan and Lauren's story, the tears flowed as I realized that our quest towards our child has been a smooth course compared to the ups and downs of their path to E.

Bryan and Lauren have known throughout their relationship that their family would need to be built though adoption, and 6 years ago their journey began when when they thought that they would be bringing home a child between the ages of 0-12 months at time of referral. They also thought that they would be adopting from Nepal or India, but those doors also closed.

After filing signing their first contract, they have been waiting to meet their first little one(s) from Ethiopia. We know God goes before us and their hearts have grown just as their parameters have expanded over the past 3.5 years. A variety of experiences have led this couple to expand their parameters to include HIV/AIDS as well as other special needs and older children. This allowed them to move forward in pursuing a little girl with their agency who happened to be an older child. Unfortunately, in autumn 2012, just days before leaving to meet their daughter in Ethiopia, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were unable to bring her home. They continue to pray and love that sweet girl.

Little did they know that by expanding their hearts to older children, it would be paving the way for them to be ready to see the face of their son on a photo listing from a different agency and in a different country only months later. For the past 9 months they have been working to bring home their 5 year old son, E, from Ghana.

They are now, unexpectedly, doing concurrent adoptions(!!!), which means that their second adoption for E’s future sibling(s) is mostly paid for, but this first adoption to bring home their son has been all from scratch! After spending a lot of time together in Ghana, this family of three knows they are a perfect fit and they appreciate your prayers as they step through the final stages to bring E home.

The opportunity as a Featured Family will help as them as they work through the US Immigration side of  E's adoption and final travel steps to bring him home to be with his forever family.

Two amazing, stories that you get to be a part of when ordering from us. Visit our website to place an order to move these families further in their adoption journeys!

Color Spotlight: Rose Gold

Confession: I'm kind of obsessed with this particular color right now.

I love- no, really, I want you to understand this. I LOVE multi-toned metal jewelry. So, when someone makes an order that has the Rose Gold pearls in it, I get very happy. I'm not a huge fan of straight up gold. It's okay, and it has its place, but put that rosy tone to it, and I'm a happy camper.

So, what are good pairings with the Rose Gold pearls?

I'm so glad you asked! Allow me to show you some lovely examples of how Rose Gold blends so beautifully with some of the other colors we offer!

Rose Gold with Light Grey! This is a PERFECT example of a two-toned metal combo. It's so pretty!

Here are Burgundy and Powder Rose with Rose Gold. This is such a nice palette. They blend beautifully together.

I was pretty excited when I saw this order come in. Tahitian, and Light Green sandwiching the Rose Gold, and so cool. I think it works really well in the Pea Pod.

This is a really soft look with mixing in the White or Cream pearls.

Another one of my favorite colors to put with Rose Gold is Bordeaux. I haven't had anyone order it yet, but I do recommend it in our Inspiration Gallery in the Creative Combos collage.

I'll be highlighting our other colors too in the months ahead, but I just happened to get an influx of orders with Rose Gold, so I thought I would start with this one! Plus, it's one of my favorites right now.

I think, at first glance, it may seem like a difficult color to put with the others, but really, it works well with them all.

I'll leave you with my own little ditty that I made for myself! (I ordered a silver/rose gold chain just for this nest! I love it!)

The Order Blitz Strategy

This is just too good a story not to share.

Really. If we want to help adopting families, this is a fantastic way to pitch in and take advantage of our Featured Family Program.

Denelle is a friend among friends. Early in the month, she placed an order for herself to help support Joe and Deanna, and then, "When I got them, I was so impressed by how adorable they were that I decided to buy one for people who are significant in my life in past and present. They just gotta have one!"

She gathered up the orders by asking all her friends when their children's birthdays are, and designed them accordingly. (It's super easy with our Birthstones Guide) That's when I experienced what I now call an "Order Blitz".

They just kept coming. Order after order was entered in to my website. I thought, "Whoa. She really liked her order!" at first, but then I thought what was happening was that she was gathering orders from friends. She had to be ordering for others! Right?

Wrong. Denelle took care of basically a year's worth of birthday and Christmas presents for a year!

But there still remains two brilliant ideas to help our Featured Families:

1. Buy Christmas and birthday presents for a year.
2. Organize a group "Order Blitz"- you can take people's orders, and place it for them so that everyone saves on shipping!

With one "Order Blitz," Joe and Deanna's earnings for the month were doubled! You don't have to be the sole purchaser of an Order Blitz! If you are willing to help the Featured Family that you know spread the word about their fundraiser, and offer to gather up the orders, then you could make a HUGE impact in how far a Featured Family fundraiser can go!

I would say that's pretty cool. Wouldn't you?

So, how about you? Could you organize an Order Blitz for one of our Featured Families?

Here's a great way to start an Order Blitz:

1. Place an order for yourself.
2. When you get your order, share it with your friends! Show them how much you like your piece(s), and offer to place an order for them. When people see the product, they are more likely to join in and make a purchase!
3. Gather up the orders, set a deadline of sorts- like the 29th of the month.
4. Send me an e-mail letting me know the Order Blitz in coming. This will help me know that I need to wait for all the orders to come in and not send an invoice too soon.
5. When you place the orders, include the name of the person it's for in the "Special Instructions"- that way when everything ships, I can label each item for easy distribution. Everything will be shipped to you- so your name needs to be in the Shipping Address section so that everything stays together!
6. Send me an e-mail when everything's complete. Then I will know to send that invoice!

Okay, I think that's all for this post. I hope that this sparks some inspiration!

Say Hello to Two Amazing Featured Families for August!

These two families are amazing! They are some of the most beautiful examples of patience as they wait to see how their nests will be designed. Waiting is one of the most difficult and longest parts of the adoption process, and both Brian and Heidi, and Kevin and Jamie are precious examples of that.

Brian and Heidi

Brian and Heidi have been married for almost 7 years and are waiting for the Lord to bless then with their baby(ies) from Ethiopia. They have been in this process for nearly 3 years now!
They know that the Lord has sustained them on their adoption journey and are confident that He will continue to give them strength. They are praying "big time" that they get their referral in the month of August- wouldn't that be fun!?! Let's pray alongside them, shall we?
Currently, they are #1 on the siblings list and #4 on the girls list. They are hoping to be blessed with two children!
Heidi writes:
at times it [the waiting] feels absolutely excruciating. However, the Lord always meets us right where we are and His glory is being revealed to us along the way.
We can't wait to finally be a mommy and a daddy!

Kevin and Jamie

Kevin and Jamie started thinking about adoption in 2009. They stewed about it, thinking the cost was too great, but always said "someday, maybe..." Did you know that finances is the #1 reason for couples to walk away from adoption?

Jamie always imagined a nest full of children, but unfortunately, that dream has been hard to come by after years of infertility. They struggled both before and after their son was born, and after a miscarriage, Kevin and Jamie began thinking that God's plan was, in fact, for them to adopt.

They prayed about it a lot, and in December 2011, they said YES to adoption! It's been a long, painful journey, but they are hopeful as they wait for their child to come home from Ethiopia.

We continue to wait for our Lord's perfect timing.

Every order placed this month will benefit one or both of these families. When ordering, be sure to indicate which family directed you to A Nest by Design so that they can get their proper donation. If you just came across us apart from either family, no worries! The 20% that goes to our Featured Families will be split evenly between the two of them. This is our first month sponsoring two families at the same time, and we're really excited to be able to minister to adopting families in this way.

Like I mentioned earlier, finances are the biggest deterrent to adopting, and every little bit helps reduce the stress from the financial burden of adoption. Until there is adoption finance reform, the best way to get children into their forever families is to help each other! We want to encourage and applaud families that step out in faith and say YES to bringing children home!

... I just can't decide what color combinations I like best. So when I couldn't choose a combination for a mom of 4 boys (and she couldn't choose either!), I got help from our Facebook fans.

What one would you choose? I really liked both, but Choice A won in a landslide! I still stand by Choice B, as a great color combo though!

So, were our fans right? What do you think about the end result?

I think they did great! If you need help, let us know! We've got a great set of fans! Not a fan yet? Join in the fun!

A Special Nest for A Mommy-to-Be

This is Rob and Lyndsey. They are expecting their first baby, and they wanted to announce the gender in a super fun way. So with help from A Nest by Design and help from a very excited aunt-to-be, we made her a sweet pendant to announce that:

What's special about the pearl in Lyndsey's nest is that it comes straight from Hawaii! Auntie-to-be brought me the pearl, and I got to work making this special treasure for Lyndsey. What a special treat! I think she loved opening her gift.

This is just another one of those memorable things that I get to do as I create these treasures. Every pendant or brooch has a story to tell of God's faithfulness and goodness in how he gives us people to love.

Such a fun way to announce an exciting blessing, and rejoice in God'a goodness!

Congrats Rob and Lyndsey on your baby girl! May God bless you both as you embark on this adventure called Parenthood!

*If you have a pearl or pearls that you would like incorporated into a nest or pea pod, I can do that! Just e-mail me, and I'd be happy to help you! Also, I can work really fast to announce pregnancies or gender reveals!

I'm most frequently asked...

... can I do birthstones?

My answer has been, "Some, but not necessarily." Some of my original twelve colors could be used for some of the months, but I didn't have all of the months. For instance, Light Blue is perfect for March's aquamarine, but I didn't have a red tone for July's ruby. Or you could use Lavender to pull off February's amethyst, but really, it's kind of light to represent the gem's true color.

Well, I took care of that. We're adding six new colors that allow you to personalize Sweet Pea Pods and Nests with birthstones. Granted, they aren't perfect, but we're pretty darn close, if I do say so myself!

I fudged a little. Like for January's garnet, I chose to use Swarovski's Crystal Burgundy. The funny thing about the name of the pearl is that it's totally not burgundy as we would think of it! It's a very pretty purple tone, almost plum with a tint of pinkish hue- absolutely beautiful! So why did I put that for a garnet (which is traditionally a deep crimson color)? There are purple garnets! Score! Another example is April. How do you
do a diamond from pearl?! Well, I didn't want to do White, because I felt like White or Cream are obvious choices for June (duh! The month is PEARL!), so that's why I went with Light Grey.

Anyway, I could write a lot about my manic thought processes as I chose each color for each month and why I did what I did, but really, it's up to you! The Birthstone Guide is really just a recommendation. You don't have to follow it! That's the beauty of all these color choices and the beauty of the customization we offer at A Nest by Design.

What I really wanted to do is offer realistic options for those who really preferred to customize around a birthstone theme. I think I've accomplished this.

So here are the SIX new colors:

Rose Gold: is pretty much what it is. It's a gold-toned pearl with a pretty rose undertone. This is not one to combine with Bronze, I will warn, because they have a very similar look to them. It's really the only combo that I would avoid.

Dark Purple: is a very deep purple. Love. It.

Dark Green: is a great deep green. It almost has an army green feel to it, but not so olivey.

Night Blue: is another richly deep color. If you're just glancing at it next to Dark Purple, you might not tell the difference at first because they are very dark. It has a truer blue color than Tahitian.

Burgundy: is not really what the name says. When I think of burgundy, I think of a deep rasperry color instead of a purple color. I would say that this is more of a purple tone. It's just too pretty for me to have passed up. I would pair it with Powder Rose in a heartbeat! They look AMAZING together!

Bordeaux: is a crimson, wine color. This is a really pretty red. It's not that an orange red at all. The undertone is more of that wintry blue red. This is very important for color-freaks like me because if this had a more orange undertone, I would despise it, but it's the "right" color of red. I'm not sure if anyone will appreciate this description except my mother or possibly other persnickety red-lovers. Trust me. Swarovski did this color right!

If you want to read up on our other color selections, visit here. It offers you further proof that I'm a color-freak.

Ah, let the customizing begin!

Adoption Update

Many of our followers on Facebook saw that we were matched with a birth mother in early May. We were excited preparing for a little girl, and on May 18th she was born.

We went to the hospital to meet her the day she was born not knowing if she would be ours or if her mother would choose to parent. It was a bittersweet time holding her and doting over her, but we did our best to remain a unattached as we could.

On May 20th we knew that we would have our answer. We had so many praying for us, and we could feel their prayers holding us up. We got our answer, and it wasn't what we were wanting. The mother had chosen to parent.

It hasn't been an easy time for us. We have been grieving, and missing a little baby girl that was never ours. We are working through our hurt and disappointment, praying that God will work this for his glory. He has a plan for our family, and although we thought that this little girl was it, it wasn't.

There's a lot to process after a failed placement. It's an all too common story for so many adopting families, and we're holding on to the hope that our child will come home in God's timing.

So we continue. We still ask for prayers. We know our adoption story is still being written, and we will hold on to hope.

Thank you for supporting our family, and all the families that we are also helping through A Nest by Design. Although we're hurt, we still believe in adoption. It's never an easy road, but full of obstacles and pain. Don't forget to pray for not only us, but our other Featured Families. We're on a journey that is not for the faint of faith.

Introducing July's Featured Family

So excited to introduce you to Joseph, Deanna, and Family!

Joe and Deanna are a family of four originally from Washington State who just recently moved to Hawaii. (Rough, huh?!) Daddy Joseph is a wonderful family man who loves the Lord and loves others with his whole heart. Mommy Deanna is a stay at home mom who homeschools their two boys while also acting as Joe's secretary and help meet.

Their hearts have always been open to what the Lord would have for them, and in late 2010 they felt the call to adopt. They began the process of adding a daughter to their family through All God's Children International's Ethiopia Adoption Program.

They have been patiently waiting and longing to be matched with their daughter for over two years now, and are hoping they might just see a referral in the next year or so!

"We simply cannot wait to add the pink and purple,
the girly clothes, and the sweetness a little girl will add to our mostly boy family."

Joe, Deanna, Collin and Cameron covet your prayers as they walk this journey as they wait with hope for their little girl to finally come home!

Every purchase in the month of July will help support this family's adoption fund. Won't you help them build their nest with an order from A Nest by Design?

Meet Our Featured Family for June!

Introducing Nathan, Carrie, and Family!

Look at this beautiful group!

This family of seven is awaiting their referral for their newest blessing from China. It could be any day!

Nathan works hard to provide for his family, and Carrie is a stay at home mom- and even homeschools!

Their adoption story began when Carrie, as an eighteen year old, was told that she may never be able to have children. And Nathan grew up knowing that he always wanted to adopt. Thankfully and miraculously, they were able to have 4 children biologically, and in 2009 the Lord began stirring their heart to begin the adoption process. In 2011 their son came home from Ethiopia. After this experience, their eyes were opened and their hearts became even more broken for orphans. In May 2012, they felt like it was time to add to their family again through adoption. This time, they were drawn to China, and a special needs program through All God's Children International.

They write, "We are humbled to be on this journey as we await the blessing of our new family member. Adoption is a journey that begins when God whispers on the hearts of a father and mother."

All purchases throughout the month will count towards helping build their adoption fund.

Let's help them add another egg to their nest! Just visit our website to order! You can follow their adoption journey here.

Introducing Sweet Pea Pods!

A friend of mine sent me a message on Facebook with a picture of wire pea pod necklaces, and wrote, "I saw these today and thought of you. Could you make these?" Upon closer inspection, and with the help of YouTube, the answer was, "YES! I can make these!"

I proceeded to practice occasionally, and got the hang of making them and established my own way of doing it. After all, I can't just copy what others are doing. I always want to put my own twist on things, so to speak. I tried doing different numbers too, as A Nest by Design is known for "pushing the boundaries" of traditional numbers! But I found that for this item, I really need to stick with 2 to 4 pearls. So, I'm sorry that this isn't an item that allows for more personal customization for grandmothers, or for larger families, but I still love making them and think that this is a great thing to offer.

I also feel like these pea pods are fashionable. They don't have to represent anything, really. They are just cute, and the Light Green Swarovski pearl is PERFECT for peas!

So here we are! I'm happy to offer personalized Sweet Pea Pod Necklaces! They are $15, and I can make them with 2-4 pearls. I am also offering them in Sweet Pea Bundles. How cute is it to have matching pea pod necklaces with your BFF(s)?! You can order matching sets of 2 for $20, 3 for $30 or 4 for $40.

So, I ask you...

How many peas are in your pod?

Thus Ends the Mother's Day Rush

Our first A Nest by Design Mother's Day was a success! Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement. There is no way we could have raised over $700 for the Lute adoption without YOU!

In the days and weeks ahead, there will be some exciting things coming up. Check back with us on Friday as we partner with Baby Be Blessed for their weekly giveaway. I. LOVE. BABY. BE. BLESSED. I love the work that she does, and the message she shares. Please go visit their website to see what they are about over there. It's truly a privilege to joins forces this week!

Also, on June 1st, make sure to see who our very first Featured Family will be! You can read about the program here, and apply for it here. Please help spread the word about this chance to help adopting families raise funds! As of now, we only have one family lined up for June! We are wide open for July through October!

For now, I just wanted to share some of the pretties that went out to mommies this season. I. LOVE. THE. NEW. COLORS. As orders came in, I was so excited about the beautiful combinations that people wanted.  Really, no one could go wrong. The Swarovski crystal pearls all look beautiful together. Seriously, it's a pat-myself-on-the-back sort of success!

Announcing our Featured Family Program!

As you know, A Nest by Design was started to help our family raise funds for our adoption, and we have been so blessed by the support of so many and continue to work towards funding. But it's hard to just keep it to ourselves. We've been wanting to look for ways to help others.

That's where we need your help.

We want to launch our "Featured Family" program starting in June 2013. Each month (excluding April/May and November/December) we want to feature a different adopting family on our website. During their month, a percentage of sales will go to them for their adoption.

Here's where you come in. Do you know any home study approved adopting families that need help with fundraising?

We would love to help them build their nest too!

All prospective Featured Families need to do is:

Visit our website, click on the Featured Family tab, and fill out the application. We'll then ask you for a family photo that we can share on the website! (You will e-mail that to

We'll work with each family as to when their month will be, and help them know how to spread the word about their fundraising month.

It is up to the Featured Family to let their friends and family know about their fundraiser. Every order during that month will help them- whether it is an order that comes from their contacts or not! At the end of the month, we will give the Featured Family 20% of the total proceeds.

Also, when their family's nest has grown (aka- their adoption is complete!), we would love to give them a complimentary nest pendant or brooch!

So, can you help us out? Who can we bless?

Today we're launching a whole new set of colors to choose from! Instead of glass pearls, which can easily scratch or chip, we're now offering Swarovski Crystal Pearls. Swarovski pearls have a crystal core, which makes them more solid and offers a clearer, more true pearl sheen.

What's even better, is that we don't even have to raise our price! We can give you a better quality product for nearly the same cost! How great is that?

Not only this, but you have more colors to choose from!

Light Grey: a beautiful, soft silver, perfect as an accent color. Truth be told, I have wanted to add a silver pearl for a long time, but it just didn't look right with the old color palette. With this new palette, it's one of my favorites!

White: classic, pure

Cream: a more true, and natural pearl color, this will compliment that string of pearls you have!

Rosaline: a soft baby pink color, very classic.

Powder Rose: is a deeper shade of rose and almost has a purple undertone to it, one of my favorite additions. It goes really well if you wear a lot of hot pinks, or fuschia. I think this will be our most popular pink choice!

Lavender: the most asked-for color! You asked, and now you have it! So pretty! It goes well with all the colors offered, and is a great alternative for you anti-pink gals!

Light Blue: another asked-for color! This is a subtle blue, and can be paired with any other color really well. I really am happy to have found a blue that doesn't look too bright and blends nicely with other shades.

Tahitian: My. Favorite. New. Color. In some lights it almost looks navy, but has a bit of a green tint to it. You could call this shade a dark teal blue. This is one that I just absolutely couldn't pass up offering. I love it that much. For those who like more bold colors, this is one for you!

Light Green: another really fun shade! This green has an almost dark lime feel to it. It's brighter than our previous moss green offering. One of my favorite combos is putting light blue, tahitian, and light green together- gorgeous!

Bronze: a rich lighter brown, offers a really pretty, neutral color.

Brown: a dark, rich brown that is really pretty.

Deep Brown: is exactly what it is! It is a very, very deep brown. It's very dark, and in dim light, could be mistaken for black, but it's not! I almost didn't include it, but it was just too pretty to pass up. It also coordinates so wonderfully with all the other colors (all the colors coordinate together so well- otherwise, I wouldn't offer them!), but what I like about the offering of the three browns, is that it really does offer some choices when considering different tones in skin color!

Now that you know what's what, I'm sure you want to order. So head on over to our website and order away!
